Questions are being raised on Abhishek Sharma, former cricketer said – throw him out…bring Sanju Samson

Former Indian captain and former head selector Krishnamachari Srikkanth has supported Sanju Samson’s return to the Indian T20 team. He recently appealed to the selectors to take a tough decision regarding Abhishek Sharma, who performed poorly in the T20 series against Zimbabwe. Abhishek could score only 11 runs in three matches, while India won the series 3-0. On the other hand, Sanju Samson, who was the Player of the Tournament in the T20 World Cup 2026, did not get a place in the team for this tour.

Srikanth believes that Abhishek Sharma has been given continuous opportunities for a long time, but he has not been able to live up to the expectations. He said on his YouTube channel, “Abhishek Sharma has been understood by the bowlers in international cricket since the World Cup; now the time has come to take a tough decision against him; I am confident that Sanju Samson will return to the team; he will get 100 percent chance again; the selectors should now take a tough decision.”

All eyes will be on selectors before Asian Games

India’s next T20 challenge is the 2026 Asian Games to be held in late September. Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Suryavanshi have been included in the team for this tournament. Before this, BCCI is also considering organizing limited overs series against Afghanistan and Bangladesh. In such a situation, players may have another opportunity to strengthen their position.

Questions raised on different treatment of Sanju and Abhishek

Krishnamachari Srikkanth also raised the question as to why different approach is being adopted towards Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma. He said, “Abhishek’s record since the World Cup has not been special except for a few innings; Sanju Samson was the most needy player in the World Cup, then why does he not get consistent opportunities. If Abhishek is being given such a long chance, then why not Sanju. Why is one player being treated differently and the other?” Srikanth believes that a place in the team should be given on the basis of performance and not just on the basis of being given consistent opportunities.
