Illegal plotting at 36 places in the colony, big warning from BDA: If the map is not passed by August 31, bulldozers will be used.

Settlement. The Basti Development Authority (BDA), taking a strict stance on the rapidly increasing illegal plotting in the district, has issued a big warning to the general public. Secretary and Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) Kirti Prakash Bharti said that illegal plotting is being done at 36 places in the district without approved maps. The list of all these places has been made public and people have been appealed to check the legal status of any plot before purchasing it.

CRO said that according to Section 14 of the Uttar Pradesh City Planning and Development Act-1973, any kind of construction or plotting is illegal in the authority area without getting the map approved. Investigation has revealed that many developers are selling plots without getting the plan map approved, due to which the buyers are in danger of losing their hard-earned money.

The authority has given the last opportunity to all the concerned developers to get their maps regularized till 5 pm on 31st August 2026. After this, demolition action will be taken against illegal construction and plotting under Section 27 and 28 of the Act. The entire expense incurred in the action will be recovered from the concerned developer.

For the convenience of the public, a help desk has been set up in the BDA office, where any person can get information about the legal status of his plot free of cost from Monday to Friday from 11 am to 2 pm.

The authority has clarified that the list of 36 illegal plating sites is available on the notice board and website of the office. People have been appealed to check the name of any plot in the list before purchasing it.

CRO Kirti Prakash Bharti has appealed to the public not to get lured by cheap plots, check all the documents, verify the validity from the authority and immediately inform the BDA about illegal plotting. He said that there may be difficulty in getting electricity, water and other facilities on illegal plots in future and no compensation will be given in case of demolition. Therefore, vigilance is the biggest security of your capital.
