Stock market closed: Investors’ wealth increased by Rs 5.10 lakh crore, Sensex rose 776 points.
Mumbai. After falling for five consecutive trading sessions last week, the domestic stock market made a strong comeback on Monday. Investors’ confidence increased due to reduction in global tension and hope of peace talks between US-Iran, due to which Sensex and Nifty closed with a gain of about one percent. BSE’s 30-share major index Sensex closed at 76,835.78 points, up 776.01 points or 1.02 percent. At the same time, NSE’s Nifty-50 index reached 23,995.95 points with a gain of 228.50 points or 0.96 percent.
Increase in investors’ wealth by Rs 5.10 lakh crore
Due to the boom in the stock market, there was a big increase in the wealth of investors. The total market capitalization of BSE listed companies increased by Rs 5,10,561.8 crore to Rs 4,80,80,037.04 crore. The effect of the market boom was also seen on midcap and smallcap stocks. BSE Smallcap index closed with a gain of 1.71 percent and Midcap index closed with a gain of 1.65 percent.
There was shopping in all sectors
All-round buying was seen in the market on Monday. Indices of IT, media and realty sectors rose more than two percent. Apart from this, there was strength in Auto, FMCG, Pharma, Healthcare and Chemical sectors also. Of the 3,446 companies traded on NSE, 2,259 shares closed with gains, while 1,071 shares declined.
Shares of Indigo, Infosys and Bajaj Finance shined
Out of 30 Sensex companies, 28 shares registered a rise. Shares of Eternal rose 5.63 percent, IndiGo 4.94 percent, Infosys 3.66 percent and Bajaj Finance 3.50 percent. Apart from this, shares of Asian Paints, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bajaj Finserv, Maruti Suzuki, HCL Technologies and TCS also gained. However, HDFC Bank shares closed in the red.
Effect of rise in global markets also
The possibility of US stopping military action against Iran and peace talks created a positive atmosphere in global markets. In Asian markets, China’s Shanghai Composite closed with a gain of 1.15 percent, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng closed with a gain of 0.98 percent and Japan’s Nikkei closed with a gain of 0.50 percent. According to experts, market sentiment has been strengthened by reduction in international tensions and softening of crude oil prices. If the global situation remains stable then the positive trend in the market may continue in future also.
