AI image generator tools are used to create these types of images, adding hidden details or layers. Image formats (such as Live Photo or GIF/Video interaction) and creators on X (Twitter) are using this trick to increase user engagement, so people spend more time on their posts.
What is the ‘Tap and Hold’ trend and why is it going viral so fast?
The ‘Tap & Hold’ trend has been going viral on social media platform X for the past few days. Under this trend, users try to see an image on the screen by holding their finger for a few seconds.
Users claim that tapping and holding an image makes it look clearer, sharper and in high-definition than before. After this experience, people are now trying this method on every image, so as to know whether there is any hidden surprise or fine details behind the photo.
In fact, ‘Tap and Hold’ doesn’t do any new changes or miracles in the image. Whenever a post is scrolled on social media platform X, a light and compressed version (low resolution) of the image is initially shown to save data and speed. Due to this, fine details or nuances of the photo are not clearly visible.
When a user clicks and holds the image for a few seconds, the system converts it to full screen mode, at which point the original high resolution (Full HD/4K) version of the image is fully loaded. As soon as the high quality is loaded, the image looks sharper, clearer and more attractive than before.

To get the best detailing in the image, users add special words like ‘Ultra Detailed’ (Ultra Detailed), ‘High Resolution’ (High Resolution), ‘8K’ and ‘Photorealistic’ while writing the prompt. After the image is created, it is ‘Quality Upscaled’ and posted on X, so that when users ‘Tap & Hold’ on it, its crystal clear high-quality look can be exposed.
