The city will soon be getting another sports center. A “Racket Sports Complex” will be built in Hariharpur, Municipal Corporation Zone 8, at a cost of approximately 25 crore rupees. Four badminton courts, two squash courts, and a table tennis hall will be built in the two-story, double-height complex, right in front of Lulu Mall. The C&DS department of the Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam has been given the responsibility of building this sports center. C&DS Project Manager Shailendra Prakash said that the DPR has been prepared and the construction work will be started soon after the tender.
Separate changing rooms and toilets will be built for male and female players in the complex. Apart from installing lifts, a cafeteria will also be built, which will have food and beverage facilities. After the construction of this sports complex, players from the city as well as rural areas will get a chance to hone their talent and they will not have to travel far. Currently, the youth living in remote areas of the city have to go to Gomti Nagar and Hazratganj to play table tennis and badminton.
