Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while inaugurating the “Kakori Train Action Centenary Celebrations” on Sunday, said that calling the Kakori incident a robbery undermines the revolutionaries’ sacrifices and their purpose. He said that the revolutionaries’ only goal was to free India from British slavery.
CM Yogi Adityanath said that the British called the Kakori train action a “dacoity,” but unfortunately, those in power in independent India also long called it the “Kakori Dacoity Case,” thus insulting the revolutionaries instead of honoring them. Incidents like Kakori and Chauri Chaura have also not been given their due place in history.
The Chief Minister said that the country’s independence was not the result of the efforts of a single individual or ideology. Millions of people fought on various fronts, and numerous revolutionaries sacrificed their lives. Forgetting these sacrifices is tantamount to alienating the country’s young generation from its sources of inspiration.
Referring to the Chauri Chaura incident, CM Yogi said that the Congress suspended its agitation after that incident. He said that Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya had fought the case of the Chauri Chaura accused, while some local leaders played a role in advocating against the revolutionaries.
The Chief Minister alleged that even after independence, revolutionaries did not receive the respect they deserved. India did not become a slave just like that. Internal divisions and conspiracies against India were also responsible for the country’s enslavement.
He said that even today, forces are active in weakening India by dividing society on the basis of caste and region. He also described social media as a new medium for anti-India propaganda, saying that anti-India forces are misusing it. Efforts are being made to spread rumors and mislead society through social media.
He appealed to the youth to be wary of any such propaganda. CM Yogi said that those who kept the country’s young generation away from its revolutionary heroes did the youth the greatest injustice. Denying a young person the opportunity to be proud of their heroes is tantamount to alienating them from their role models and sources of inspiration.
He alleged that those in power after independence did the same for a long time. Many heroes and heroines who played a crucial role in the freedom struggle were not given the place in history they deserved.
Referring to Rani Laxmibai, Veerangna Uda Devi, Jhalkari Bai and Avantibai Lodhi, the Chief Minister said that obstacles were created even in building memorials and buildings in the name of these brave women.
He said that for a long time, there was politics surrounding the honoring of freedom fighters. Since 2014, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the work of honoring the heroes and martyrs of the country’s freedom struggle has begun.
He said that by naming the Kakori incident as ‘Kakori Train Action’ instead of ‘Kakori Dacoity’, Prime Minister Modi has tried to give due respect to the contribution of the great revolutionaries.
The Chief Minister said that for a long time after independence, the politics of naming in the country was limited to one family and one clan. Now, honor is being given to the heroes of the country who gave their all for India’s independence and nation-building.
He said that the Kakori train action is not just an event in history, but a chapter that inspires patriotism, courage, and sacrifice among the youth of the country. It is essential to connect the new generation with the true heroes of the freedom struggle and their struggle through such events.
