But, Washington Sundar got injured and 33 year old Saransh Jain got a chance in his place. This is the first opportunity for Sarash in Team India. It will be expected that Saransh may get a chance to debut in Sri Lanka, because he can replace Washington Sundar. Who is Saransh Jain?

Saransh Jain, who got the callup in the Indian team, was born on 31 March 1993 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. This player performed brilliantly in the last 2 domestic seasons and attracted everyone’s attention. Brilliant performance in Ranji Trophy: Saransh, playing for Madhya Pradesh in the 2025-26 Ranji season, took 30 wickets in just 7 matches at an excellent economy of 2.64. In the last season also, he had taken 35 wickets in 8 matches.

While playing for Central Zone in the final of Duleep Trophy 2025, Saransh proved his mettle by taking 5 wickets against South Zone, due to which the opposing team was reduced to just 149 runs. Apart from this, he has also taken 6 wickets against Rest of India in Irani Trophy.

Jain has played 47 List A matches, in which he has scored 553 runs at an average of 17.83, in which he has scored 1 half-century. Apart from this, he has also taken 38 wickets in 45 innings at an average of 42.57. Saransh Jain has played 20 T20 matches, in which he has scored 37 runs in 8 innings and has taken 18 wickets in 17 innings at an average of 19.11.

Have experience of playing on Sri Lankan pitches

Saransh Jain has a good opportunity to play on Sri Lankan pitches. He recently went on a tour of Sri Lanka with the India A team, where he once again performed brilliantly. In the beginning of July 2026, he performed well in the four-day matches played against Sri Lanka A at the Galle International Stadium. In a match where he played an unbeaten inning of 70 runs in the first innings against Sri Lanka A and took 6 wickets (4 in the first innings and 2 in the second innings). His recent experience of playing on the turning pitches of Sri Lanka can be useful for the Indian team.

The 2-match Test series between India and Sri Lanka will start from August 15. It is considered certain that Saransh Jain will get a chance to debut in this series. Actually, Saransh has been included in the Indian team in place of Washington Sundar, who provided a lot of strength to the playing-11 of Team India. In such a situation, Saransh’s off-spin and batting makes him a like-to-like replacement for Sundar.
