There is no dearth of people who are fond of eating sweets in Indian families. Having sweets after a meal is a tradition, but some people stay away from sweets for fear of gaining weight. In such a situation, bottle gourd barfi is a great option, which you can make without milk and mawa. In this article we will tell you a simple method of making bottle gourd barfi.
Material
Bottle gourd – 500 grams
Ghee – 2 tbsp
Desiccated Coconut (Dried Coconut Powder) – 1 cup
Milk powder – ½ cup
Jaggery – 1 cup or as per taste
A little ghee for greasing
Chopped dry fruits – 3 to 4 tbsp
How to make bottle gourd barfi
First wash the bottle gourd thoroughly, grate it and remove the seeds. Then put 2 tablespoons of ghee in a pan and heat it. Add grated bottle gourd to it and fry on low flame, until its water dries up. When the bottle gourd is roasted, add powdered jaggery to it and mix. After this add chopped dry fruits and milk powder.
Mix all these ingredients well. Add broken or grated jaggery and fry the mixture while stirring continuously, until it becomes thick. When the mixture starts thickening, apply a little ghee in a plate, pour the mixture into it and spread it evenly with a spoon.
Now leave it to set for about 2 hours. When the barfi is set, add dry fruits on top and cut them as per your choice. In this way, delicious bottle gourd barfi is ready without sugar and milk.
Things to keep in mind while making barfi
It is necessary to dry the water gourd properly.
After adding jaggery, keep stirring the mixture continuously.
You can increase or decrease the quantity of jaggery as per your taste.
Eat bottle gourd barfi within two days.
After the barfi is ready, keep it in the refrigerator.
