Marsh has now become the first Australian batsman to score 1,500 or more T20 runs in a calendar year. Marsh’s half-century helped Sunrisers Leeds post a mammoth total of 201/4. In response, Welsh Fire lost the match by 71 runs.

Marsh breaks Tim David’s record

With his half-century against Welsh Fire, Marsh took his T20I runs to 1,502 this year. He has scored these runs in just 35 matches. During this period, Marsh has batted at an impressive average of 44.17 and a strike rate of nearly 160. He has scored two centuries and 11 half-centuries in 2026. Previously, Tim David held the record for most T20I runs in a calendar year. He scored 1,461 runs in 68 innings in 2022.

Marsh needs to score 830 more runs this year to break Pooran’s record. With plenty of T20 cricket remaining in the year, Marsh has a chance to get close to this record.
