Etawah. In Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah district, a female constable, Priyanka, committed suicide by consuming poison in the surgery room of the police lines under the Civil Lines police station jurisdiction. Police have sent the body for post-mortem. The deceased constable’s family has accused her husband of dowry death.
The deceased constable’s husband, Rajat, stated that he had married Priyanka in a love marriage three years ago. Both are residents of Saharanpur. Priyanka joined the police in 2019. On Sunday evening, Priyanka returned from duty, but for some unknown reason, she consumed a poisonous substance. When Priyanka’s health deteriorated, she was taken to the district hospital, where her condition was critical and she was referred to Saifai Medical University. Upon arrival in Saifai, doctors declared Priyanka dead.
Family members stated that Priyanka had married Rajat against their wishes. Rajat did not work and lived on Priyanka’s salary. The two quarreled regularly over money. They have accused Rajat of poisoning Priyanka to death.
Senior Superintendent of Police Brijesh Kumar Srivastava said that female constable Priyanka committed suicide by consuming poison in her residence at the police lines under the jurisdiction of the Civil Lines police station. The police have sent the body for post-mortem and are investigating the matter.
