Before Delhi, Mumbai was in talks with Chennai Super Kings (CSK), but the talks could not reach any conclusion.

Akshar Patel and Prithvi Shaw’s offer

According to a report in Times of India, Delhi Capitals wants to include Hardik Pandya in its team in place of its former captain Akshar Patel. To seal this deal, Delhi is ready to give Prithvi Shaw along with Akshar Patel. Now it remains to be seen whether Mumbai Indians accepts this offer from Delhi or puts forward any new conditions.

Why couldn’t talks be made with CSK?

If media reports are to be believed, before Delhi, Chennai Super Kings had shown a lot of interest in Hardik. CSK had proposed to trade Hardik along with Shivam Dubey and Dewald Brevis by paying Rs 10 crore in cash. This offer was quite attractive, but Mumbai Indians demanded young Ayush Mhatre in place of Dewald Brevis. CSK was not ready to release Mhatre keeping its future in mind, due to which the deal got stuck there.

Why does Mumbai Indians want to part ways with Hardik?

The biggest question in everyone’s mind is why Mumbai Indians want to trade an excellent all-rounder like Hardik Pandya. Actually, Hardik, who won the trophy for Gujarat, has not been able to repeat the magic in Mumbai. Be it the news of rift with senior players or the team’s poor performance on the field, Mumbai has been continuously disappointed and Hardik’s own form has also been a matter of concern. Apart from this, Mumbai now has young options like Tilak Verma, who can be considered as a long race horse and given the captaincy. Due to all these reasons, Mumbai Indians management is taking the decision to trade Hardik.
