Effect of torrential rain in Chamba
Heavy rains on Monday night in Chamba’s Sultanpur ward and surrounding areas have caused huge damage. The debris and strong flow of water disrupted life. In Gram Panchayat Sarol, Parail and Tadoli, water and debris entered houses and shops, causing damage worth lakhs.

64 houses, eight shops and one warehouse have been damaged due to this flood. Many families had to take shelter in safer places overnight. 16 cars, five bikes and one scooter were buried under the debris. At many places, courtyards and rooms of houses were filled with debris.
administrative assistance
The strong flow in Ghatola, Nadu and Tadoli drains has also damaged fertile land and private property. The administration has provided assistance of Rs 50,000 each to the affected families. Till Tuesday evening, 179 roads, 62 electricity transformers and 107 drinking water schemes remained stalled across the state.
Prediction and closure of schools
The Meteorological Department has issued a flood warning for the next two days in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Sirmaur and Solan districts. Due to heavy rain, all educational institutions in Nahan sub-division will remain closed on Wednesday.

Due to rain in the capital Shimla on Monday night, there was a landslide from the hill near the lift, due to which the circular road remained closed for several hours. Three flights from Delhi to Dharamshala were also canceled and rail services remained affected. Traffic came to a standstill on many roads in Sirmaur district.
Landslide incidents
Five devotees from Hyderabad, returning from Manimahesh Yatra in Chamba, were trapped due to landslide near Gui Nala, and were rescued and brought out safely in the night. The new road near Kotropi on Pathankot National Highway-154 in Mandi has started sinking, due to which the risk of traffic disruption has increased.
