Earth trembled, shopping mall collapsed due to dangerous earthquake of 6.8 magnitude, dozens of people buried under debris

An extremely powerful earthquake has caused massive devastation in Japan’s southern Kumamoto province on Tuesday. The intensity of this earthquake has been measured at 6.8 on the Richter scale. After strong and scary tremors, a large shopping mall located in Kashima city collapsed badly, due to which more than 50 people are feared trapped under the debris. According to initial information, many people have also been injured in this terrible accident.

Earthquake in the evening, tsunami warning and migration of 1.5 lakh people

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, this strong earthquake occurred at 4:27 pm local time. Its center was located at a shallow depth of just 10 kilometers underground. Immediately after the earthquake, the administration issued a tsunami warning for the coastal areas, although it was withdrawn after about an hour after seeing that the danger had passed.

After this dreadful disaster, as a precaution, the local administration has issued strict instructions to more than 1.5 lakh citizens of Kyushu island to go to safe places and relief camps. Pictures shown on national broadcaster NHK clearly showed long cracks on roads and major bridges, fire in buildings and massive devastation. The government has started relief and rescue operations on war footing and the total damage caused in the affected areas is being assessed.

This is the reason why whenever a major earthquake occurs in Japan, special caution is taken regarding the safety of nuclear plants.

More than 60 people frightened by aftershocks, thousands of soldiers entered the field

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, after the main shock, the earth is continuously shaking in the Kumamoto region and so far more than 60 aftershocks of magnitude 1 to 4 have been recorded, causing panic among the people.

Seeing the seriousness of the situation, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi told the press on Tuesday that about 3,600 military personnel have been deployed so far to quickly carry out relief and rescue operations in the affected areas. Apart from this, 300 additional soldiers of Japan Self Defense Force are also being immediately sent to the spot. The Prime Minister said that our army, along with the local administration, is engaged in rescuing people trapped under the debris, distributing relief material and providing all possible help to the victims. Expressing grief over the disaster, PM Takaichi said that massive damage due to the earthquake has been confirmed and I express my deepest condolences to all the families affected by this massive disaster.
