Cristiano Ronaldo to star in British TV series about football

The series, named “Day 1s,” is produced by UR•Marv Studios, an independent production company Ronaldo co-founded with director Matthew Vaughn, who is known for his “Kingsman” movies, according to Goal.

The series will explore the world of professional sports through the eyes of a fictional football agent named Stanley Dalton, who will be portrayed by “Homeland” and “Billions” star Damian Lewis. Arsenal and French football icon Thierry Henry is also set to appear, alongside British rapper Dave and rising actress Carlotta Banat.

Henry was recently spotted on the first day of filming in London.

“Day 1s” is based on an original concept devised by football agent Darren Dein, who represents Henry and also serves as an executive producer on the show.

An insider told The Sun that the project is expected to attract significant attention from major streaming platforms.

“It’s likely to spark a bidding war between the streamers,” the source said. “The sheer caliber of figures behind it, not to mention the cast, means it is a prestige project – albeit a surprising one for Ronaldo as he crosses into making dramas.”

The series aims to capitalize on the surging international interest in British football, particularly in the U.S., following the recent World Cup.

Speaking about the partnership with Ronaldo, Vaughn said: “Cristiano has created stories on the pitch that I could never have written, and I look forward to creating inspiring movies with him”.

“This is an exciting chapter for me, as I look ahead to new ventures,” Ronaldo said, as quoted by The Sun.

The announcement comes shortly after the 41-year-old former Manchester United and Real Madrid star confirmed he had played his final World Cup match.

Portugal were knocked out in the Round of 16 following a 0-1 defeat to eventual champions Spain on July 7, though Ronaldo has yet to announce his retirement from international football.
