The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the Women’s Player of the Month nominees for July 2026, which include England’s all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt, Sri Lanka’s Harshitha Samarawickrama and West Indies’ Hayley Matthews.
The trio made match-winning performances during the month, playing key roles for their respective teams.
Nat Sciver-Brunt (England)
The England Women captain, Nat Sciver-Brunt mad an impressive appearance during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 despite suffering a calf injury during the tournament.
She made a crucial contribution in the semifinals against South Africa, reviving the innings after England lost four wickets for 23 runs in the first four overs.
She made a stunning 75 runs off 47 deliveries, setting up a 133-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Heather Knight, putting England to qualify for the finals. However, they failed to claim the title and ended up as runners.
Harshitha Samarawickrama (Sri Lanka)
Harshitha Samarawickrama delivered a back-to-back performance in Sri Lanka’s 2-1 win against Pakistan. She put up a stunning century in the second match while putting up an unbeaten 71 runs in the final game.
She amassed 173 runs at a strike rate of 77.23 runs, claiming the player of the series award.
Hayley Matthews (West Indies)
The West Indies all-rounder Hayley Matthews put up a show with bat and ball during the three-match ODI series against Ireland. She put up a well-defined knock of 159* in the chase after taking 3 wickets for 52 runs.
She followed up with a century and two wickets in the second match, and picked only two wickets for 37 in the final game, playing a crucial role in the side’s clean sweep.
Player of the Month voting process
The Nominees from either category are shortlisted based on their performance by the last day of the month. The Candidates are shortlisted and voted on by the ICC Voting Academy and fans around the World.
The ICC Voting Academy comprises renowned journalists, former players, and ICC Hall of Fame members. They submit their votes by email, which accounts for 90% of the voting members.
Fans registered with the ICC can also vote via the ICC website at icc-cricket.com/awards, which accounts for the remaining 10 per cent. Winners will be announced every second Monday of the month.
