CPI condemns action against students in Ranchi, demands solution through talks!

Communist Party of India (CPI) General Secretary D. Raja has strongly condemned the police action against the protesting students and JPSC-JSSC candidates in Ranchi. He said that the demands of the students are completely legitimate and they are related to the examination, recruitment process and their future.

“Youth gathering peacefully to demand justice and accountability should not be seen as a law and order problem,” D. Raja said in a post on social media platform X.

He alleged that water cannon, tear gas and lathicharge were used on the protesting students, which is completely unacceptable. He says that such action will further increase the anger and dissatisfaction of the students.

The CPI leader demanded the state government to immediately stop using force against the students. He said that the government should create an environment of meaningful dialogue with the protesting students and call their representatives for dialogue.

The grievances of the students should be heard patiently and concrete steps should be taken to address their legitimate demands. Barricades and police action cannot be the answer to dissent in a democracy.

He stressed that the government's response to students demanding justice should not be violence, but dialogue and participation. CPI believes that a peaceful and positive solution to this issue can be found only through dialogue.

At the same time, BJP organized several protests at different places in Ranchi city against the lathicharge on students during the JPSC movement. BJP workers demonstrated on Ratu Road and burnt tyres. The demonstration was led by state BJP president Aditya Sahu.

Meanwhile, the monsoon session of the Jharkhand Assembly was adjourned sine die on Tuesday, a day before the scheduled time, amid heavy uproar and sloganeering. As soon as the House proceedings resumed at 12 noon, the opposition members started raising slogans regarding the JPSC-JSSC issue.

After this the proceedings of the House were adjourned till 2 pm. Later, when the proceedings of the House resumed, the uproar did not stop. Amidst the uproar, Chief Minister Hemant Soren gave his speech on the JPSC-JSSC dispute.

Due to the continuous uproar, the functioning of the House became difficult. Ultimately, Assembly Speaker Rabindranath Mahato announced the postponement of the monsoon session proceedings indefinitely.
