Barpeta Braves secured an eight-wicket victory against Jorhat Stallions in the 22nd match of the Assam Premier League (APL) 2026 at the ACA Stadium, chasing down 125 runs comfortably. This win elevates the Braves to fourth place on the points table.
Saurav Mousum Dihingia’s unbeaten 64 anchored the chase from the beginning, supported by Pranjal Paul, who contributed 40 runs before being dismissed. The Braves reached their target in 16.3 overs.
Jorhat Stallions were restricted to 124 for six in their 20 overs despite a resilient half-century from captain Swarupam Purkayastha, who scored 50 off 46 balls. Manoj Kumar Barman added 35 runs, and Nihar Narah finished with an unbeaten 25 off 19 balls.
Barpeta Braves chose to field first and made an early impact by removing Erik Roy on the fifth ball of the match. Rajveer Singh and Dyutimoy Nath were dismissed during the powerplay, leaving the Stallions at 32 for three inside five overs.
Shubham Kumar Gupta was the standout bowler for the Braves, taking four wickets for 28 runs, rising to the top of the Purple Cap standings. Rajesh Prasad claimed one wicket. Gupta’s double strike in the fifteenth over left the Stallions struggling at 85 for five.
In reply, the Braves lost Kabir Hassan Desmukh early, but Saurav and Pranjal stabilized the innings with a 103-run partnership for the second wicket. Saurav Mousum Dihingia continued his dominant form, striking three fours and four sixes, and remained undefeated at the close. Danish Das joined Dihingia to see the team to victory.
