IND vs AFG: When all three T20I matches will be played in Delhi, then how did Afghanistan become the host of the series

IND vs AFG T20I Series: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released the schedule of the 3-match T20 series between India and Afghanistan. These three matches will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, but this series is being hosted by Afghanistan. After which now the question is arising in the minds of the fans that when all the three matches of this T20 series are going to be played in Delhi, then how did Afghanistan become the host of the series. Let us tell you what is the reason behind this?

Why will Afghanistan host the series?

Due to security reasons and lack of regular resumption of international cricket in Afghanistan, Afghanistan cricket team will play its home series in India. Afghanistan’s ‘home’ series under the Future Tours Program (FTP) will be organized at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi in September 2026 in collaboration with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). This is not the first time that Afghanistan will be the host on Indian soil.

India has long been supporting the development of Afghanistan cricket and allowing it to use Indian grounds for its home series. All three T20 matches of this series will be played in Delhi only. To reduce travel fatigue and keeping security in mind, no other city has been given the opportunity to host the matches.

What did BCCI President say?

BCCI President Mithun Manhas said, “BCCI is committed to supporting the growth of cricket in Afghanistan and providing opportunities for its players to play at the highest level. Bilateral cricket is an important part of this, as it gives teams the opportunity to play regularly against stronger opponents and gain valuable experience. We welcome the Afghanistan Cricket Board to India for this series and look forward to working with them to make it a success. We believe that “There is much more that can be done together and we will continue to support Afghanistan cricket while strengthening the relationship between our two cricket playing nations.”
