Actor Anil Kapoor is set to host the upcoming quiz game show. 'India's Top 1%'a format he says puts common sense, practical thinking and the ability to approach questions differently at the center of the game.
Explaining the show's format, Anil said contestants will face 13 questions designed around common-sense reasoning rather than conventional general knowledge.
“I am bringing India's biggest game show, India Ke Top 1%. To win in this show, you need just one thing: Common sense,” he said.
The show will feature 100 contestants playing simultaneously in the studio. Each participant will begin the game with Rs 1 lakh, with the money of players who answer incorrectly being transferred to the prize pool.
According to Anil, after all 13 questions, the prize pool could grow to as much as Rs 1 crore.
The actor also highlighted the show's interactive element, saying viewers will be able to participate from home while the studio contestants compete.
“Finally there's a platform that rewards you for common sense, and all of India is invited to play!” Anil said.
'India Ke Top 1%' will premiere on September 5, 2026, on Star Plus and JioHotstar. The show is the Indian adaptation of the international format 'The 1% Club'which originated in the UK in 2022.
The format has since been adapted in 15 countries, including the United States, Australia, Germany, Spain, France, Israel and Mexico, and has emerged as one of the fastest-growing international game show formats developed in the UK in recent years.
Anil Kapoor, who previously hosted 'Bigg Boss OTT Season 3'will anchor the Indian edition of the show.
