Patna. Many important proposals related to youth and higher education were approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary in Bihar. A total of 10 decisions were approved in the meeting. These include important decisions like taking forward the Skilled Youth Programme, joint entry in private ITIs and developing private B.Ed institutions as multidisciplinary colleges.
Kushal Youth Program will run for five more years
The government has decided to continue the Skilled Youth Program from the financial year 2026-27 to 2030-31. For this, approval of about Rs 430.08 crore has been given in 2026-27. The objective of the scheme is to prepare the youth for employment by training them according to the needs of modern technology and industries.
Training in AI, drones and digital sector
Keeping in view the changing nature of employment with time, new areas will be included in the training. The youth will also be taught skills related to home nursing and medical along with artificial intelligence, drone technology, solar, networking, digital marketing and web technology. According to the government plan, the target is to train about 2.57 lakh youth every year through about 6,436 training centres.
New options for private B.Ed colleges
The way has also been paved for developing stand-alone private B.Ed institutions as multidisciplinary degree colleges. Apart from B.Ed, graduate courses like Arts, Science and Commerce can be started in eligible institutions. For this, the rules of the concerned university, UGC, NCTE and state government will have to be followed.
Admission system in private ITI will change
The cabinet has also taken an important decision regarding admission in private ITI. A provision has been made to enroll 50 percent seats in private institutions through joint admission process. This is expected to help in making the admission process more systematic and transparent.
Focus on youth and students
It is clear from the decisions of the cabinet that the government's emphasis is on preparing the youth for employment and increasing opportunities for higher education. Modern skill training can also give the youth an opportunity to start their own work along with a job. With the expansion of multidisciplinary colleges, students are expected to get more options for higher education in their vicinity.
