Mahindra is set to unveil the production-ready form of its much-awaited pickup truck based on the Scorpio-N, on August 14, 2026. It is expected to come with an interesting design, tech-loaded cabin and a strong set of engines. The carmaker recently put out a teaser video showing glimpses of its design. It shows faint images of its cabin and some of its features. Using the clip as the base, we have now unmasked the truck’s interior.
The Scorpio-N-based truck will come with a modern, practical and tech-heavy cabin. The teaser confirms a bunch of interesting features inside. The cabin will likely have a dark theme to it. The video has confirmed a new steering wheel design. The flat-bottom steering wheel is fairly large, looks tough and even has integrated controls on it. Mahindra’s ‘Twin Peaks’ logo can be seen at the centre. Tasteful Silver inserts can also be seen on the steering wheel.
The truck will also have a large all-digital driver’s display. This is likely to be a 12.3-inch unit. We can also notice a bunch of other features in the picture. An electronic parking brake, a terrain mode selector, and several other controls can be seen on the centre console. Some of these buttons are likely for off-roading-related controls. We expect the Scorpio-N Pik-up to come with part time switchable 4×4 function, just like its SUV counterpart.
The biggest highlight, however, is the huge central touchscreen. We don’t know the actual size of this but it looks larger than the screens found in other Mahindra models. This large touchscreen will come with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto. Although not clear in the video, the Scorpio-N Pik-up’s infotainment unit is likely to come with physical controls. An auto-dimming inside rear view mirror (IRVM) is also visible.
Another detail to note is the dual-zone climate control. This pickup truck will have dual-zone automatic climate control when the 9th generation Hilux, its primary rival, comes with manual AC controls. Vertical AC vents can be seen on either side of the central screen, in the Scorpio-N truck. Considering how Mahindra has been carefully catering to Indian demands, it is safe to expect rear AC vents in the Scorpio-N pickup. This is something that’s missing in the new Hilux.
The Scorpio-N SUV already offers level 2 ADAS in its higher trims. The pickup truck is also likely to be equipped with this feature. All in all, the cabin design seems to be practical and modern. These are all speculations based on glimpses from the teaser. Mahindra hasn’t revealed the truck’s feature list officially. It is likely to be much longer. Features like ventilated seats and ambient lighting are also likely to be offered. We will have to wait till the reveal to learn more.
That said, we are impressed by the attention to detail that Mahindra has put into the interior design of this vehicle. The dashboard layout, choice of colours and trims, all align with its identity of being a ‘global product’. And the feature list? Well, it seems to be tailor-made for the Indian buyer!
Mahindra’s upcoming pickup truck will be the production form of the Global Pik-Up shown in South Africa in 2023. It is likely to stay true to the concept with its overall dimensions and design. In that case, there will be clear visual differentiation from the SUV counterpart. It will likely have a different front grille, redesigned headlamps, tweaked tail lamps and new wheels. While the specifics remain under the wraps, test mule sightings back these expectations.
This truck will be based on a stretched out and heavily re-engineered version of the Scorpio-N’s ladder-frame chassis. It will use the same engines as the SUV- 2.0L turbo-petrol making 200hp and 2.2L turbo-diesel making 175hp. Both manual and automatic transmissions will be on offer and as mentioned above, there will be 4×4 hardware on certain variants.
Test mule sightings have indicated that Mahindra is working on two different versions of the truck- single- cab and double-cab. Details on this front remain limited. The Hilux, on the other hand, is only available with a double cabin configuration.
