Gaurav Gogoi on Central Government: During the debate on the Anti-Paper Leak Bill in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Congress MP and Deputy Leader (Opposition) Gaurav Gogoi Central Government Strongly criticized. Referring to the July 20 clash between protesters and the Delhi Police at Jantar Mantar, he said the brutality of the government will never be forgotten. Gogoi questioned who ordered pellet guns, tear gas and lathi charge on students, youth and women and demanded an explanation from Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the entire incident. Referring to the ongoing youth protest at Jantarmantar against the paper leak, Gogoi said that children are participating in this protest only with the blessings of their parents, as the issue is related to their future.

Strongly condemning the police action, he said, “We saw the strength of democracy, but also the brutality of the government. Pellet guns were used; a police officer hit a young woman in the earlobe, and women were abused and their clothes were torn. We will not forget this. We want an answer from the home minister.”

Gogoi asked who ordered the use of pellet guns and tear gas. He also mentioned the use of AK-47 in Bihar. Targeting former education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, he alleged that 21 students committed suicide during his tenure. Gogoi remarked that when Pradhan came to the Parliament complex after resigning, BJP MPs welcomed him as if he had returned from winning the war against Pakistan.

Criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said the Prime Minister focused on Instagram reels, while the very first cabinet meeting should have had a serious discussion on education reforms, paper leaks, coaching mafia and CBSE OMR sheets. Gogoi claimed that more than one lakh students committed suicide due to negligence in the education sector. While demanding the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan, he questioned the role of NTA president. “The director general of NTA was replaced, but the chairman was retained. Look at his background; he belongs to a particular organization,” he said.

Gogoi also referred to the alleged irregularities on the chairman during his tenure in the Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh Public Service Commissions. The Congress MP thanked Gurdwara managers, lawyers, Swiggy delivery staff and common citizens who came forward in support of the students. Gaurav Gogoi emphasized that the youth had taken to the streets over the issue of the future of students and appealed to the government to understand the plight of the youth.
