Nainital. A very serious case has come to light from Haldwani in Nainital district which puts police functioning and inhumanity in the dock. Here, his mother died due to severe mental shock and stress after her son was detained by the police in a dispute over jewellery. The deceased has been identified as Savita. After this heart-wrenching incident, there is huge anger among the local citizens and family members in the entire area and there is a demand for a high-level investigation into the matter.

Last Tuesday night at around 9:30 pm, Haldwani police, acting on the complaint of a personal dispute related to jewelery transaction, took a youth into custody. Mother Savita became very nervous after the police took her son away. From night till the next day, she kept pleading the police officers and personnel to release her son, but the police did not melt their hearts. When the police did not care, Savita went into deep mental stress due to her son's worry and the police's strict attitude. The next day, on Wednesday around 4 pm, he suddenly felt chest pain and his health became very serious. When the news of the mother's serious condition reached the police station, fearing administrative and legal action, the police hurriedly freed the young man from their custody.

Let us tell you that when the mother's health deteriorated, the family and the son immediately ran to the nearest hospital with Savita, but by then it was too late. After health examination, the doctors declared the woman 'broad dead' i.e. dead even before reaching the hospital.

Police administration's stance and argument
After this matter gained momentum, senior police officers have issued a statement that the youth was brought for questioning in connection with a serious dispute related to jewellery. Also, the police say that the exact cause of death will be confirmed only after the post mortem report comes, on the basis of which further legal action will be taken.
