Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and National President of Congress Mallikarjun Kharge raised an important issue in Parliament on Thursday. Mallikarjun Kharge said that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) got the stage purified in Haldwani, Uttarakhand where he had come to give a speech. He said that he never makes an issue of his being a Dalit but such things make him sad. On this, JP Nadda said that BJP does not support this at all and it will be investigated. He said that the National President of BJP will also look into this issue in depth.
Earlier, the Bharatiya Janata Party had said that it had nothing to do with the 'Shudhikaran Yagya' conducted in Haldwani. Let us tell you that Mallikarjun Kharge had addressed the Vijay Shankhnad rally of Congress in Haldwani. Uttarakhand Congress President Ganesh Godiyal has alleged that this has been done at the behest of BJP.
What did Mallikarjun Kharge say?
Referring to the incident that took place in Haldwani in Parliament, Mallikarjun Kharge said, 'I want to say with great sadness that I gave a speech at Ramlila Maidan in Haldwani. There were lakhs of people there, at that time I did not take the name of any society or religion. I only told about the problems of the people but after my speech, BJP people did the work of purifying that stage by performing havan. You must have read about it in the newspaper. Is this the way of democracy? How are you protecting the Constitution? I am the leader of the opposition.

Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge responded to this statement by JP Nadda, leader of the ruling party in Rajya Sabha. He said, 'What Kharge ji has said is really painful. This is painful not just for Congress but for all of us. Kharge ji said that there were people from BJP, so I want to say that BJP does not support such things. The National President is sitting here, I have also been the National President, so I am telling that we will investigate it. Whatever happened was investigated and I condemn it. The hurt that has been caused to your sentiments is a matter of regret for all of us.
He further said, 'I never want to make this a political issue. I have been in this House for years but I am a Dalit, so protect me, help me, for this I have never prayed to anyone with folded hands. I have the power to fight, I fight but you insult me by purifying me.

Who performed the 'Purification Yagya'?
This 'purification' was done under the leadership of Ram Awasthi, Secretary of Shri Ram Sena Charitable Service Trust. A member of this organization says that during this Congress meeting, Islamic slogans were raised and objectionable comments were made about Hindu organizations. This organization says that it has no connection with any political party. Besides, he also says that this havan was conducted with the aim of restoring religious-cultural dignity.
