Punjab News: Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann inaugurated the new five-storey government school building for girls at Malerkotla and described it as a special Independence Day gift for the daughters of Punjab. He said that by completing this project which cost Rs 6.39 crore, Rs 6.34 crore has been saved to the government exchequer, while the students have been equipped with modern facilities like library, smart classrooms, common rooms and washrooms.
This new building will bring quality education closer to their homes for the girls of Malerkotla and surrounding villages. Punjab’s education model is giving excellent results, under which 882 students of government schools have cleared NEET and 361 students have cleared JEE. Have passed the exam. Apart from this, special bus services are being provided to more than 15,000 girls so that distance from home does not become a hindrance in their studies. Along with this, 118 ‘Schools of Eminence’ are being established to expand quality education to children from poor families.
Previous governments painted school buildings
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the previous governments had only painted school buildings in the name of smart schools whereas the present government is creating an education framework which is giving positive results and has made Punjab the number one state in the field of education in the country. He also warned that before the elections, BJP will try to spread hatred in Punjab and appealed to the people not to indulge in such inflammatory talk.
Success of 361 students in JEE
Sharing some highlights after inaugurating the school, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann wrote on Twitter: “Inaugurated a new five-storey government school for girls at Malerkotla today. The project has been completed at a cost of Rs 6.34 crore, resulting in a saving of Rs 5.25 lakh to the exchequer. This is a special gift to our daughters on the occasion of 80th Independence Day. Due to our continuous efforts, Punjab today stands first in the country in the field of education.” The success of 882 students in JEE is a big example of this change, so that the education of girls continues without any hindrance.
Emphasis on employment and infrastructure
Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the building, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “This new school will provide modern educational facilities to the students and also reflects the achievements of the Punjab government in the fields of education, healthcare, employment, infrastructure and women welfare.”
Mention of the great message of the Nawab
Speaking about the historical importance of Malerkotla, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “I consider myself fortunate to be on this historic land of Malerkotla, which is a symbol of unity and communal partnership. The common Punjabi and especially the Sikhs can never repay the debt of the great message given by the Nawab of Malerkotla, who raised the slogan ‘How’ against the martyrdom of Chhota Sahibzadas in Sirhind. Development of this historical city It is the duty of the state government to do so and I feel very proud to dedicate this newly constructed school building to the people.”
New school building dedicated to the people
Thanking the people who turned out in large numbers despite the scorching heat, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “This huge turnout of people gives confidence to the state government to serve with more enthusiasm. Today is a very happy day that this new school building is being dedicated to the people. This school will enhance the facilities for our students and provide quality education.”
Recalling the condition of the school during his tenure as a Lok Sabha member, the Chief Minister said, “When I was a Member of Parliament, this school used to run in two shifts during winters. It was difficult to take the children back home and the building was completely unsafe. Now we have completed this building at a cost of Rs 6.34 crore against the sanctioned cost of Rs 6.39 crore and have saved Rs 5.25 lakh. The money saved can be used for other developmental works in the school, including R.O. System, water filter, smart classroom and other facilities are included.”
You will get quality education close to home
Describing the new building as a gift to the daughters of Malerkotla, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “This school is dedicated to our daughters on the 80th Independence Day. This five-storey building is spread over an area of 54,000 square feet and will have libraries, washrooms and all the modern facilities required for a good school. Students of Malerkotla and nearby villages will now be able to get quality education close to their homes.”
Left Kerala and other states behind
Highlighting the changes made in Punjab’s education sector, the Chief Minister said, “When I assumed office in 2022, Punjab was at number 27 in terms of education. Today, Punjab is at number one. We have left Kerala and other states behind. This is the result of concerted efforts of the state government, including teacher training programmes, schools of eminence and other initiatives.”
Talking about the performance of students of government schools, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Only 80 students of government schools had cleared the NEET exam in the year 2021. This number has increased almost 11 times to 882 in the year 2026. This number shows a huge difference between our government and the people who never cared about schools and education.”
Children have the opportunity to fulfill their dreams
Speaking about the changing scenario of education, he said, “Now the time has come that people should be considered rich not by the money or showrooms they have, but by the educational qualifications of their children. We are working with full determination to ensure that children from ordinary families get equal opportunities to fulfill their dreams.”
Highlighting the state government’s initiative to cap the fees of private schools, the Chief Minister said, “In the recently concluded Assembly session, the state government has brought a law to benefit more than 32 lakh students of 7,800 private schools across Punjab. These schools have been directed not to increase their fees by more than five percent.”
Parents’ involvement in education increased
Speaking about parent participation in government schools, he said, “For the first time in the history of Punjab, parent-teacher meetings were held in government schools across the state, in which more than 24 lakh parents participated. This reflects the government’s commitment towards involving parents in the education of their children.”
Highlighting the reforms done in health services, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “We have opened 1,090 Aam Aadmi Clinics across Punjab to improve the health system and more than 5 crore people have benefited from these clinics. Along with this, the state government will soon open Nawab Sher Khan Medical College in Malerkotla. Along with providing quality treatment, this medical college will also create employment opportunities for the youth of the area.”
Efforts to make Punjab drug free
Regarding infrastructure development, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “More than 43,000 kilometers of rural link roads are being constructed across the state by our government for the convenience of the people. We are also making tireless efforts to make Punjab drug-free and the ‘War on Drugs’ campaign has already broken the backbone of the drug trade.”
Talking about Punjab’s sporting heritage, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Punjab is going to write a historic chapter in Indian hockey as the state is hosting the prestigious Asian Hockey Champions Trophy for the first time in October this year. This event will further strengthen the identity of Punjab and inspire the new generation of youth to take up sports. Punjab has always been the nursery of hockey and hosting such an international tournament on our soil will inspire our youth to join the sport.”
Mention of Congress meeting in Malerkotla
Crediting the AAP government for Punjab’s progress, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “This is becoming possible because the power of the state is in the hands of an honest, positive and progressive thinking government. Congress leaders always keep fighting among themselves for power, but on the contrary, our government is focused on the development of Punjab. The people of Malerkotla had also seen a similar ‘drama’ during the Congress party meeting here.”
Progress in agriculture and irrigation
Highlighting the progress being made in agriculture and irrigation, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Punjab is moving towards progress and prosperity in every field, benefiting every section of the society. Unlike earlier, our farmers are now getting electricity during the day, which has reduced their difficulties. When I took over, only 22 percent canal water was being used in the state. Today it has increased to 88 percent.”
Tata Steel plant near Ludhiana
Regarding employment and investment, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Our government has given more than 69,000 government jobs to the youth purely on the basis of merit, without any recommendation or corruption. Due to our continuous efforts, big industrial giants from across the world are coming forward to invest in Punjab. Japanese steel company ‘Aichi’ has invested Rs 1,100 crore in the state, while ‘Tata Steel’ is setting up its second steel plant in Punjab near Ludhiana after Jamshedpur. The largest steel plant has been established.”
Referring to the ‘Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana’, the Chief Minister said, “This important scheme provides cashless treatment up to Rs 10 lakh to every resident family of Punjab. Punjab is the first state in the country to provide such comprehensive health coverage. The citizens of the state have already availed free treatment worth more than Rs 937 crore, significantly reducing their financial burden and ensuring access to better health facilities.”
Rs 1,000 per month to each woman
Regarding the ‘Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana’, the Chief Minister said, “For the first time, we have launched the ‘Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana’, under which all women above 18 years of age in Punjab are eligible to avail the benefits of this scheme. Scheduled Caste women are getting Rs 1,500 per month, while every woman in Punjab is getting Rs 1,000 per month. The scheme aims to cover more than one crore women and 72.13 lakh beneficiaries. “Women are already benefiting from it. The scheme is reaching more than 97 per cent of women, making it one of the largest women-centric social security initiatives in the country.”
Chief Minister’s allegation on BJP’s strategy
Emphasizing the need to protect the social and community unity of Punjab, he said, “The people of the state should beware of the divisive forces which want to divide Punjabis on communal lines to gain political power. Punjab is a very fertile soil, where every seed can grow, but the seed of hatred can never grow here because our feeling of brotherhood is very strong. The BJP’s strategy is to make people fight and create riots, because this is their livelihood. But the people of Punjab are People will never let these nefarious plans succeed.”
Government is building roads
Highlighting Punjab’s tradition of brotherhood, he said, “Punjab is a land of religious harmony and free thoughts. Here people celebrate festivals together and stand by each other in good and bad times. The social bonds of Punjabis are very strong and divisive forces cannot break this unity. The nefarious designs of BJP will never succeed in Punjab.”
Regarding the government’s work, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Our government is opening new schools and hospitals, building roads and making every possible effort for the welfare of the society. On the other hand, Congress and Akalis think only about themselves and their families and are not concerned about Punjab and Punjabis.”
Charged with protecting each other’s interests
Taking a jibe at Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Badal, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Sukhbir Singh Badal should stop living in illusion. Gone are the days when these parties kept changing chairs among themselves and waited for their turn in power. Even while in power, they protected each other’s interests, due to which their wrongdoings never came to light.”
He claimed, “Now people have elected ‘AAP’ and the broom is cleaning the political system of Punjab. Sukhbir may never come to power again, but the time will definitely come when his entire family will be behind the bars for their wrongdoings. The sins of the Badal family are unpardonable and the entire people of Punjab will never forgive them for the crimes committed against the state and its people.”
