Sensation due to murder of cricket coach in Sri Lanka, cricketer arrested after dispute with players

Heartbreaking news has come out from Sri Lanka. A cricket coach has been murdered here. 62 year old coach Sumit Fernando had a fight with his own players, after which he lost his life. Sumit Fernando has coached many international players of Sri Lanka. It is being told that there was a dispute over water, after which the players beat the coach and he died in the hospital.

The matter is of 8th August

Sumit Fernando was present at the Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club on August 8, where he had an argument with the players over water. After this the players allegedly beat him. After being seriously injured, he was admitted to the hospital, where he died. Police have arrested a 17-year-old cricketer related to this incident.

After being produced before the Colombo Magistrate Court, the 17-year-old cricketer has been ordered to remain under the supervision of the Child Care Services Department till August 17. According to the police, during the clash, the coach had allegedly tried to attack a player, after which the 17-year-old player beat the coach and he died in the hospital. Fernando has coached many players including Sri Lankan ODI captain Kusal Mendis.

Police is investigating

At present the police is investigating this matter. Medical reports revealed that Coach Fernando already had heart disease. Police officials have also got the dead body of the coach examined. The last rites of the coach have been performed on Thursday 13th August. However, their report is yet to come. Let us tell you that the Indian team is on a tour to Sri Lanka, where the first match of the 2-match Test series is to be played from August 15. The match will be played in Galle.
