Amidst the ongoing internal tussle in Punjab Congress, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi may visit Amritsar in late August. This visit is going to take place at a time when the factionalism regarding leadership in Punjab Congress has come to the fore before the 2027 assembly elections and the Channi faction is continuously demanding the removal of Raja Wadding from the post of chief. According to The Tribune report, when Rahul Gandhi reaches Amritsar, a program is proposed to pay obeisance at the Golden Temple but the Congress party has not yet officially confirmed it.
This visit of Rahul Gandhi is being seen as an exercise to unite the Congress before the elections. Before his visit, the party high command is continuously talking to the leaders of different factions. Organization General Secretary KC Venugopal is meeting with the angry leaders of Punjab Congress and Rahul Gandhi has also sent his team to present the real picture of the ground before them.

Will Rahul Gandhi bow down?
The ongoing rebellion in Punjab Congress is a big challenge for Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi has already formed the team of Punjab Congress but his own team did not want to work unitedly. Former CM Charanjit Singh Channi's group wants to sit on the chair of the chief but Rahul has faith in Raja Vading. During his last visit to Punjab, Rahul Gandhi had clearly told all the leaders from the stage that everyone will have to work together as a team and the party will make anyone who does not work in the team sit at home. Despite this warning, the Channi group rebelled and are now trying to force Rahul to accept their decision but it is being said that Rahul Gandhi is not ready to bow down.
Many big leaders reached the high command
To resolve the dispute, Congress General Secretary Organization KC Venugopal has met many leaders. Leaders like Channi, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Dharamvir Gandhi, Sher Singh Ghubaya and Rana Gurjit Singh have met Venugopal and expressed their views. Punjab Congress in-charge Bhupesh Baghel has also given his report on the political situation in the state to the high command.
Meanwhile, on August 12, Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly Pratap Singh Bajwa met Rahul Gandhi in the Parliament complex and during this, KC Venugopal was also present. A day before this, a meeting of Channi, Bajwa, Sher Singh Ghubaya and MLAs Rana Gurjit Singh and Pargat Singh was held at the residence of Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa in Delhi. The leaders decided that the central leadership should be informed about the current situation in Punjab. 15 MLAs of Punjab Congress have written a letter to Rahul Gandhi asking for a meeting. However, it is not clear yet when Rahul Gandhi will meet these MLAs.
There was uproar in Congress programs
Congress's 'Every Booth, Congress Strong' campaign also did not remain untouched by this camp. Sloganeering and chaos were seen in many programs in the first phase of the campaign, which ran from July 31 to August 8. After this, the second phase of the campaign in Doaba and Majha has been stopped till August 25. It is believed that its next phase may start around Rahul Gandhi's visit to Punjab.

preparing for bus journey
It is being claimed in media reports that Punjab Congress i.e. PCC wants to conduct a bus tour to give a message of unity during Rahul Gandhi's visit. That is, all the leaders should be taken in one bus and bowed before them, but this has not been officially confirmed yet. Along with this, whether the Channi group will agree to this or not will also be a big question. It remains very difficult for Congress to end factionalism before the elections.
