Religious mystery of Kush grass: Why is it used in puja, havan and shraddha?

In Sanatan Dharma, not only flowers and leaves, but also Kush grass is considered very sacred. According to many religious experts, many pujas, havans and shraddhas are considered incomplete unless Kush grass is used. Along with this, Kush should be used to please the Gods and Goddesses and ancestors. It is told in Bhagavad Gita that a person should chant the mantra while sitting on a seat made of Kush grass. It is written about this grass in Srimad Bhagavad Gita.

 

शुचौ देशे प्रतिष्ठप्य स्थिर्मासनमात्मानः.
Naatyuchchhrutam naatinichan chailajinkushottram.

 

This verse means that to practice yoga one should sit in a clean place. Therefore, a seat should be made by spreading Kush grass, deer skin and a cloth. For this reason, Kush grass should be used during worship.

How to use Kush grass?

 

While taking resolution- In Sanatan Dharma it is believed that a resolution should be taken before worshiping. According to religious experts, while taking a resolution, a person should take Kush grass in his hand, due to which the person's resolution gets fulfilled quickly. It is also believed that without taking Kush grass, a person's resolution is considered incomplete.

 

While performing Havan- Various things are sacrificed in Havan. For this reason, Kush grass should be used while offering sacrifice, otherwise the Havan is considered incomplete.

 

At the time of Shraddha- According to religious belief, when a person performs Shraddha, then during that time the person should not offer Pind Daan without Kush grass. It is believed that while remembering the ancestors, Kush grass should be taken in the hand, through which the person's prayers reach the ancestors.
