Mahindra Scorpio Lifestyler Pickup: When Mahindra re-enters a segment it has previously occupied, it does far more than just launch a new car. The company has already redefined the lifestyle SUV segment with the Thar, and now it has its sights set on the lifestyle pickup truck market. Mahindra has unveiled the production-ready version of its new Scorpio Lifestyler Pickup. It is based on the 'Global Pik Up Concept,' which was first showcased in 2023.
The new Scorpio Lifestyler has made its global debut and will be manufactured in India. The company plans to sell it in India and select global markets. Its launch in India is slated for April 2027, with an expected starting price of under ₹19.79 lakh. Consequently, this pickup truck could appeal to those seeking a vehicle that combines the rugged appeal of an SUV with the practicality of a pickup.
Scorpio Getaway
Upon its launch, this vehicle will directly replace the older Scorpio Getaway. Mahindra has introduced it in three distinct variants: Reef, Trail, and Valley. Each version features a unique color scheme and accessory package tailored to specific customer preferences—Reef for style enthusiasts, Trail for off-road adventure seekers, and Valley for those requiring a reliable workhorse.
design
In terms of design, the Scorpio Lifestyler stays closer to its original concept than to the Scorpio N SUV. The front fascia is commanding, featuring a large grille proudly displaying Mahindra's 'Twin Peaks' logo. The headlights retain their characteristic positioning, complemented by LED DRLs placed above them. Vertically mounted fog lights and a chunky skid plate in the bumper further enhance its muscular appearance.
The side profile features wide wheel arch cladding, large alloy wheels shod with on/off-road tyres, and a silhouette reminiscent of the Scorpio N. Mahindra has left no stone unturned, equipping it with robust side steps and disc brakes on all four wheels.
The tailgate features bold, embossed 'MAHINDRA' lettering and may also include an assist feature for easier opening. The load bed features wheel-well intrusion, similar to other mid-size pickup trucks in this segment.
interior
Mahindra is likely to offer both single-cab and dual-cab layouts. The single-cab version will serve as an affordable option for budget-conscious buyers, while the dual-cab version is expected to come with modern amenities. These could include a new steering wheel, a large portrait-style infotainment screen, dual-zone climate control, a sunroof, ventilated seats, surround-view cameras, an advanced ADAS system, driver monitoring, and a push-button start on the center console.
Engine
The Scorpio Lifestyler is expected to feature Mahindra's existing and reliable engine options, though these may vary by market. It could be powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine delivering up to 200 bhp, while a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine could generate up to 450 Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic transmission options will be available, and Mahindra's robust 4XPLOR 4WD system could also be part of the package.
