Ather Energy’s upcoming Konarc could become the company’s longest-range electric scooter, with the top version expected to carry an IDC-certified range of 200 km on a full charge. The scooter is due to make its debut on August 29 at Ather Community Day and will be the first production model based on the company’s new EL platform.
The latest pre-launch information points to a much wider variant spread than Ather offers on one model today. The Konarc is expected to come in four S versions and two Q versions, named SR1, SR2, SR3, SR4, QR2 and QR3. Ather has not yet explained what the S and Q labels stand for, so the exact positioning of these variants should become clear only at the unveiling.
The big number is the proposed 200 km IDC range. Konarc is expected to use a new battery family called Bedrock, with different packs delivering certified ranges of 100 km, 125 km, 160 km and 200 km. For comparison, Ather’s current 450X, 450S and Rizta line-ups top out at 161 km IDC. If the leaked figure is confirmed, the longest-range Konarc would add 39 km to Ather’s present maximum, an increase of roughly 24 per cent.
That number needs the usual EV context. IDC is a test-cycle figure, not a promise that every rider will cover 200 km in daily use. Speed, load, traffic, riding mode, temperature and terrain affect actual range. Even so, a 200 km certified figure would give Ather considerably more headroom for riders who do longer daily runs or prefer charging less often.
Konarc is important for another reason. It is the first scooter built on Ather’s EL architecture, first previewed through the EL01 concept. The platform has been designed to support battery packs from around 2 kWh to 5 kWh and a broader family of scooters. Earlier information on the platform also points to a steel unibody, a swingarm-mounted motor and a 14-inch front and 12-inch rear wheel combination.
The Konarc is expected to enter the Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.25 lakh ex-showroom segment. That would put it closer to the heart of the electric scooter market than Ather’s performance-focused 450 range. Ather’s Rizta currently starts at about Rs 1.21 lakh, while the 450 range starts at about Rs 1.36 lakh before city-specific differences and optional software packs. Final Konarc prices, however, have not been announced. Ather already offers a battery subscription model on its existing scooters, which can lower the upfront purchase price, but the company has not confirmed whether Konarc will use the same ownership option at launch.

The scooter is also expected to get a built-in 450W charger with a cable that can plug directly into a regular socket. An optional second 450W charger could raise combined charging capacity to 900W, with a claimed 0-80 per cent charging time of about two hours. That setup would reduce dependence on carrying a separate charger for routine use.
Another expected feature is Airwalk, which uses the motor to assist when the rider is walking the scooter. That could be useful in parking areas or ramps, especially on a heavier long-range version. A one-year or 10,000 km service interval is also being indicated, which would keep routine workshop visits relatively infrequent.
Ather has confirmed the Konarc name, EL-platform basis and August 29 debut, but the 200 km range, variant details and charging figures remain pre-launch information for now. If those numbers survive into the production specification, Konarc will give Ather both its widest range spread and its longest-range scooter yet.
