New Delhi, Aug 15 (PTI) Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday announced that he will hold his next edition of the ‘Chhatron ki Goonj’ event in Pune on August 22.
Gandhi urged students to join the ‘Chhatron ki Goonj’ movement, saying that what the girls of the country needed was equality, safety and opportunities but instead, they got insecurity, discrimination, and a long wait for their real rights.
“What do the girls of the country need? Equality, safety, opportunities, and the freedom to speak their minds. What have they received? Insecurity, discrimination, and nothing but waiting for their real rights. No more,” the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha said and announced that the next edition of Chhatron ki Goonj would take place in Pune.
During the ‘Chhatron ki Goonj’ event in Prayagraj last week, Gandhi said India’s youths are the country’s greatest strength.
He spoke about “dard (pain), data, and daulat (wealth)”, referring to issues facing the youth of the country and attacking the BJP and the RSS.
“You are the power and pride of India. When I say this, I am talking about every Indian citizen,” he said, referring to the students.
The first two Chhatron ki Goonj’ events highlighting students’ issues were held in Kota and Dehradun. PTI
