Addressing the citizens on the occasion, Devvrat called upon the people to contribute to the progress of the country and take a strong resolve to work collectively towards realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a 'Developed India'.
His appeal has come at a time when the country is celebrating its 80th Independence Day on August 15. This year's celebrations also highlight the contribution of young Indians in building a developed India by 2047.
The Governor hoisted the Tricolor at Lok Bhawan in a patriotic atmosphere and paid homage to the immortal martyrs and countless freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives and everything for the freedom and integrity of the motherland.
Recalling their 'incomparable sacrifice, dedication and bravery', Devavrata paid tribute to those who fought for India's freedom and called on citizens to take inspiration from their contribution.
He said that we all should take a firm resolve to keep the national interest paramount and perform our social and national duties with complete honesty, hard work and spirit of service.
The Governor called upon the citizens to unite and contribute their best in realizing the goal of a developed India. On the occasion of Independence Day, Devvrat planted trees in the Lok Bhawan complex, which was a message of environmental protection and nature promotion.
He wished the people of Gujarat and citizens across the country a happy 80th Independence Day and wished for peace, prosperity and progress in the country.
