A comment by Samajwadi Party leader Shivpal Yadav has created a stir in the politics of Uttar Pradesh. Shivpal Yadav has said about jailed former cabinet minister Azam Khan that if SP government is formed in 2027, Azam will be made the Home Minister. Now all the leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party including Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath have reacted to his statement. BJP leaders say that SP wants to spread anarchy and create riots. Despite this, SP is seeing this statement as beneficial for itself. Perhaps this was the reason why when Akhilesh Yadav was asked about this, he did not give a direct answer.
It is believed that the Samajwadi Party has a hidden strategy behind this. On one hand, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav is preparing to contest elections with the help of PDA. By explaining the different meanings of this PDA, he is trying to woo different sections of the society. On the other hand, Shivpal, who created SP by fighting with Mulayam Singh Yadav, has been given the responsibility of strengthening his old MY i.e. Muslim Yadav equation. This is the reason why wherever he is going in the state, it is going to be in a planned manner.
What is the plan?
In the last few months, the Samajwadi Party has tried to reach out to such sections which have not traditionally been with the SP. SP got success in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections with this formula. In such a situation, SP also wants that in order to attract new classes, the old ones should not be left behind. Regarding the relationship between Azam Khan and Samajwadi Party, it has been said many times that Azam and his family are angry with Akhilesh Yadav. Many times clarification was given on this from both the sides but now SP is trying to ensure that no such message reaches the ground.

This is the reason why now this matter has been handed over to Shivpal Yadav. He is going to Muslim dominated districts like Sambhal and Rampur and saying that if SP government comes to power, fake cases will be withdrawn. In this sequence, he clearly said for Azam Khan that when the government comes, he will be made the Home Minister. The effort is to keep Muslims connected with us through this. Apart from this, an attempt is being made to send another message that SP stands with those against whom government action has been taken. Perhaps this was the reason why Shivpal made this statement with caution.
Sambhal is the same district where there was a lot of controversy regarding Jama Masjid and cases were filed against many people. Bulldozers have also been used on many tombs and cemeteries in Sambhal and at that time SP had not openly supported such people. Now SP wants to remove the resentment of such people and keep them connected with them. Shivpal Yadav is doing the same thing. He is visiting different districts and meeting people of Muslim organizations and party workers so that their association with the party continues.
What is Shivpal Yadav doing?
Shivpal Yadav, who was on a tour of Rampur, went to jail and met Azam Khan. He also met local Muslim leaders and religious leaders and party workers. Regarding Azam Khan, he said that the atrocities and atrocities being committed on him should be avenged.

Expressing disagreement over the investigation report on the violence in Sambhal, Shivpal Yadav said that such an investigation will be conducted deliberately for political gains. Apart from Azam Khan, he mentioned the action taken against many other leaders and told the workers that in 2027, Akhilesh Yadav has to be made the Chief Minister and Azam Khan has to be made the Home Minister.
In fact, in view of the increasing activities of Chandrashekhar Azad and Asaduddin Owaisi and their possible alliance, SP wants that the votes of Muslims should not be divided under any circumstances. About 20 percent Muslim voters influence about 140 seats in the state. SP, which has been away from majority in the last two elections, wants to keep its Muslim and Yadav vote banks united and is trying to integrate other sections.
