New Delhi, 16 August 2026: BWF World Badminton Championship will start tomorrow at Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi. This tournament will run till 23rd August. India is organizing this competition for the second time; Earlier this championship was organized in India in 2009.
Former world champion P.V. Sindhu will play her first match in the women's singles competition tomorrow.
Lakshya Sen is expected to perform strongly in men's singles. Ayush Shetty will face defending champion Shi Yuqi of China in the first round.
India are hoping to win a medal in men's doubles with Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty. Trisa Jolie and Gayatri Gopichand will field in women's doubles.
Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto will represent India in mixed doubles. India has not yet won any medal in mixed doubles in the World Championship.
