New Delhi, 16 August 2026: India will host the 12th meeting of BRICS Environment Ministers in New Delhi on Tuesday, August 18. Earlier, tomorrow a meeting of officials of the Environment Working Group and the Contact Group on Climate Change and Sustainable Development will be held.
The theme of the BRICS summit, to be held under the chairmanship of India, is 'building innovation, cooperation and sustainability'. Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupendra Yadav will chair the meeting of Environment Ministers of BRICS. The ministry had said that this meeting serves as a platform for meaningful discussions, building consensus and strengthening environmental cooperation.
According to the ministry, India has set four priority areas for the BRICS Environment Working Group. These include promotion of sustainable lifestyles, afforestation, wildfire and disaster management, circular economy and adaptation.
