Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh government is promoting horticulture and modern farming to increase the income of farmers. For this, under the Chief Minister State Horticultural Development Scheme, farmers are being given financial assistance on different crops and agricultural equipment. The benefits of the scheme will be available on first come, first serve basis.
Big help on fruitful orchards and dragon fruit
Farmers cultivating fruit plants like mango, guava and papaya will be given a grant of up to Rs 50 thousand per hectare. There is a provision to provide this assistance in two phases. To promote the cultivation of foreign crops like dragon fruit, farmers are being given assistance up to Rs 2.70 lakh per hectare. With this, farmers will be able to move towards higher value crops along with traditional farming.
Profit on vegetables, spices and machines also
Under the scheme, there is a provision to provide free seeds and plastic crates of some vegetables to the farmers. Seeds of spice crops like onion and garlic will also be given. Cultivation of pumpkin vegetables through scaffolding method can provide assistance up to Rs 10,000 per hectare. Apart from this, grant will also be given on the purchase of machines like power tiller, sprayer and mini tractor. There is also provision for assistance on facilities like mushroom units, plastic mulching and fruit bags for keeping fruits safe.
Documents required for application
To avail the benefits of the scheme, farmers will need Aadhar card, bank passbook, land deed or other land related documents and two passport size photographs. Farmers can contact the concerned Horticulture Department office for application and information about the schemes available in their district. With this initiative of the government, farmers can get an opportunity to adopt modern technology along with horticulture and increase additional income from farming.
