IND vs SL: Sunil Gavaskar now raised questions on BCCI's training system, also spoke on match fitness

IND vs SL: Team India has been struggling with a lot of injury problems for the last two years. Currently 9 to 10 players are injured together. Due to which questions are also being raised on BCCI’s Center of Excellence. This problem was also seen during the test match being played in Galle between Sri Lanka and Team India. Due to which now former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar is not happy at all. He has raised big questions on the training system of BCCI itself.

Sunil Gavaskar raised questions on BCCI

At present, 10 players of Team India are injured. In which names of superstars like Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya are also included. Discussing this in his Mid-Day column, Sunil Gavaskar wrote, ‘Bumrah has a knee injury, but most of the Indian players are suffering from hamstring injuries. It is clear that there is something wrong in his training and due to this he is getting hamstring injuries again and again. These injuries happen when he is playing for India, but unfortunately, the blame for this is put on the physios at the BCCI Center of Excellence.

Sunil Gavaskar spoke about match fitness

In recent times, players are spending more time in the gym than on match fitness. Talking about which, Sunil Gavaskar wrote, ‘The so-called biomechanics, in which a bowler can bowl only a few balls in the practice nets, is a question-raising practice. Even in IPL, it has been revealed that some foreign physios do not allow bowlers to bowl more than 20 balls in the nets. If you bowl 24 balls in the match, that is, if you do not bowl no-balls and wides, then what will be the benefit of bowling less balls in the nets? This is an issue that needs to be thought about thoroughly and deeply as to why these injuries are happening again and again. Being match fit is more important than being gym fit. But then again, maybe I’m from that generation. Who had different ideas about fitness.
