Vande Mataram singing controversy : Regarding the singing of Vande Mataram at the Congress headquarters on the 80th Independence Day, BJP has alleged that Sonia Gandhi raised objection to singing the entire Vande Mataram after the flag hoisting. On which Congress says that no effort was made to stop it. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge was standing for a long time, so Sonia Gandhi was asking to bring a chair for him. Now on this, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav said that BJP has nothing else to do except talking like this.

Former UP Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party MP Akhilesh Yadav reacted to BJP leaders demanding an apology from Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and Sonia Gandhi over the alleged controversy. On Sunday, he said, “The BJP has nothing else to do. If the BJP had done any good work, they would not be weakening the Constitution. Remember, if there is a Constitution, there is freedom; if there is a Constitution, we have got freedom and rights; and if there is a Constitution, there is democracy…”
The SP leader further said, “…everything is visible in the data. Security of our country's borders is more important than delimitation… Can BJP tell how much was India's land area in 2014 and how much is it today?… Whenever questions are raised about borders, BJP members divert the issue by asking counter questions… We will continue to fight for 'PDA', walk on the path of social justice and work towards uniting the people…”
