Is LPG Cylinder used in your house also? Do you also wait for the subsidy (LPG Subsidy) to come into your bank account every month after filling the gas cylinder? If your answer is yes, then this news is no less than a shock for you.
The last date for getting e-KYC (Electronic Know Your Customer) done for LPG connections by gas agencies and oil companies was fixed as August 16. Now this deadline has passed. In such a situation, the biggest question arising is, what will happen to those who have not got their verification done by August 16? Will their subsidy stop forever from today?
How much subsidy benefit will you get from today? The rules of the government and oil companies (like Indane, HP, Bharat Gas) are very clear and unambiguous. The main objective of conducting e-KYC is to identify those fake and inactive gas connections which are being misused in the market or which are found to be duplicates.
What will be the effect if e-KYC is not done? Customers who have not completed their biometrics or Aadhaar e-KYC by the night of August 16 will now be considered as 'doubtful' or 'unverified' customers in the system. The receipt of LPG subsidy money in the bank accounts of such customers may be stopped from today (17th August). That means, until you complete your verification, the rebate money received from the government will be put on hold.
Will subsidies end forever? If for some reason you have missed the deadline of August 16, then there is no need to panic too much, but it is very important to be alert. Your gas connection will not be disconnected immediately and you will be able to continue booking cylinders at normal commercial/market rates. However, the subsidy money will not come into your account until you complete the e-KYC process by visiting your respective gas agency or through online mode. As soon as you complete this, your paused subsidy facility will be restarted.
If the deadline is missed, what to do now? If you have not yet done e-KYC, then reach the office of your gas agency (distributor) as soon as possible. While going there, do not forget to take your Aadhar card, gas passbook and registered mobile number with you. This work will be completed within minutes through biometric fingerprint scanner at the gas agency.
Apart from this, if you do not want to go to the agency, you can also complete the e-KYC process from home using the Face Recognition app through the official app or website of your gas company (IndianOil, HP, BPCL).
