Team India's dominance was seen on the third day of the first Test being played between India and Sri Lanka in Galle. India bundled out Sri Lanka for 284 runs in the first innings and took a strong lead of 178 runs on the basis of first innings. However, the second session of the day was in the name of hosts Sri Lanka and they made a comeback by adding 116 runs without losing any wicket.

Sonal Dinusha scored a brilliant century in Sri Lanka's innings. He scored 100 runs in 168 balls with the help of four fours and two sixes. This is the first century of his Test career. Whereas Niroshan Dickwella played an important inning of 80 runs in 115 balls with the help of seven fours.
Sri Lanka was in trouble due to initial shocks
In the first session, Sri Lanka lost five wickets while adding 99 runs. Nishan Madushka was out without opening the account. Dinesh Chandimal scored four runs, Lahiru Udara scored 27 runs, Kamindu Mendis scored 14 runs and captain Dhananjay de Silva scored 21 runs.
After this Sonal Dinusha and Niroshan Dickwella took over the innings. Both of them made a partnership of 146 runs for the sixth wicket and got Sri Lanka out of the difficult situation. Dickwella was dismissed by Prasidh Krishna, while Dinusha's innings was ended LBW by Ravindra Jadeja.

Indian bowlers did wonders
Manav Suthar took the maximum of four wickets to wrap up Sri Lanka's innings. Ravindra Jadeja got three wickets, while Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav took one wicket each.
As soon as Sri Lanka's innings ended, rain disrupted the game. Due to bad weather, the third day's play had to end prematurely.
India scored 462 runs in the first innings
Earlier, India ended its first innings at 462 runs. India's score on Sunday was 460/9 and on Monday the team could add only two runs. Prasidh Krishna was out after scoring two runs, while Kuldeep Yadav remained unbeaten after scoring 13 runs.

Devdutt Padikkal scored a brilliant 167 runs for India. He hit 15 fours and one six in his innings of 230 balls. KL Rahul scored 82 runs, Dhruv Jurel scored 51 runs and Rishabh Pant scored 39 runs.
Rain also affected play in the first two days of the Galle Test. The weather disrupted the competition on the third day also.
