NHAI launched online 'FASTag Local Pass' facility at 121 toll plazas

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has extended the online FASTag local pass facility to 121 toll plazas across the country, an official statement said on Tuesday.

Monthly local pass can be obtained online

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said that daily commuters will now be able to get monthly local passes online through the ‘Highway Yatra Mobile App’. This will eliminate the need to visit the toll plaza in person and submit supporting documents manually.

NHAI increased its coverage

The first digital local pass facility was launched in July 2026 at Mundka-Bakkarwala toll plaza on Urban Extension Road-2 (UER-2) in Delhi. The initiative aims to make travel on national highways easier and citizen-centric by increasing transparency and efficiency in toll operations through the use of technology.

Facility for people living within 20 km radius

Under the digital local pass system, people living within a 20 km radius of the toll plaza can apply for a local pass through the Highway Yatra mobile app.

This pass allows users to make unlimited journeys at the respective toll plazas every month. Earlier, people applying for a local pass had to visit the respective toll plaza and submit documents to prove their residential address.
