Guwahati. 23876 citizens of 115 villages in 14 revenue divisions of five districts are affected by the floods in Assam. The flood has left behind a tragedy that will not be forgotten for a long time.
The affected people of four districts of Upper Assam have intensified their efforts to live a new life despite the loss of life and property.
At present all the rivers are flowing below the danger mark. In the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma last night, decisions were also taken to take necessary steps for the affected people.
This flood related information has been given in the data released by Assam State Disaster Management Authority on August 18. So far 106 people have died.
The maximum damage due to floods has occurred in Sivasagar, Charaideo, Jorhat and Golaghat districts. At present 3206 hectares of agricultural land is submerged in water. The total number of flood affected animals recorded on Tuesday was 14645.
Police and administration teams are engaged in flood relief and rescue operations. The state government deployed a total of 10 medical teams. The flood has caused extensive damage to roads, bridges and other infrastructure.
