New Delhi: Krishnanagar court of Nadia district of West Bengal has ordered to issue arrest warrant against Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra. In this case, the court has directed the police to present the report of serving the warrant on August 28.
According to the information revealed, a complaint was lodged against Mahua Moitra in the matter. After the complaint, the court sent summons to him several times for hearing. But according to the court, despite these summons, the MP did not appear on the scheduled dates.
Instructions were also sent on Tuesday
Even on Tuesday, the judge had directed him to appear in the court the next day. However, when Mahua Moitra did not reach the court even on Wednesday, the Third Judicial Magistrate ordered to issue immediate arrest warrant against her. The court said in its order that the instructions of the court were not consistently followed by the accused. According to the court, repeated ignoring of the order indicates that the accused is not taking the court process seriously. On this basis the court decided to issue an arrest warrant.
Lawyer expressed concern about security
Let us tell you, during the hearing, the lawyer appearing for Mahua Moitra said that it would not be easy for the MP to reach the court premises. The lawyer expressed fear that if she comes to the court, she may be misbehaved or create a ruckus outside. At the same time, the court recorded that it has been said on behalf of the MP that she will not appear in the court at any time. The court saw this stance as a lack of seriousness towards the judicial process.
Under which sections is the case registered?
According to a senior officer of Krishnanagar police district, the complaint has been registered under sections 79, 196, 299, 351 and 353(2) of the Indian Act. These sections include charges related to insulting the dignity of women, increasing enmity between different groups, hurting religious sentiments, criminal intimidation and hate speech. Now the police will have to present the report related to the arrest warrant action in the court on August 28. After this, the further legal process of the case will be clear.
