Pune : In the 'MRF Indian National Racing Challenge' held at the Madras International Circuit, 19-year-old Sarthak Chavan of Pune won the title of 'Super Sport 301-400 cc' category with a brilliant performance. Participating for the Petronas TVS Racing team, Sarthak pulled off a daring move in the final lap to claim a dramatic win. Sarthak was third for most of the six-lap race on August 16. In front of him were Bangalore teammates Chirant Vishwanath and Hyderabad's Raheel Pillarisetty. Sarthak took the lead by beating both of them in the last round. At Turn-11 Sarthak's (Sports) contacted Chirant. However, he recovered from the situation and retained the top position. Chirant had to settle for second, while last year's Pro-Stock national champion Raheel had to settle for third.

An accident occurred between Rakshit Dave and Savian Sabu at Turn-2. Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident. With this victory, Sarthak played an important role in helping the Petronas TVS Racing team to the top spot in the competition. He secured a podium finish in the first round of the Asia Road Racing Championship in Malaysia in the TVS Racing International Championship category. He then emerged as a leading contender for the title in the second round at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand in May.

Sarthak finished sixth in the fourth race of the FIM MotoJunior World Championship at the Circuito de Jerez-Ángel Nieto in Spain.
