New Delhi. At the UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath called for taking the economic partnership between Japan and Uttar Pradesh to new heights. He said that the relations between the two regions are not limited only to investment and trade, but there are also deep cultural and civilizational similarities behind them.
The Chief Minister said that Japan is called the 'Land of Rising Sun', while Uttar Pradesh is the 'Land of Suryavansh'. He also described UP as 'Land of Shri Ram', 'Land of Shri Krishna', 'Land of Buddha' and 'Land of Unlimited Potential'.
'Food Basket' of UP India
Referring to the agricultural potential of Uttar Pradesh, CM Yogi described the state as the 'food basket' of India. He said that UP's share in the total food grain production of the country is about 21 percent.
He also attracted Japanese companies to the possibilities of investment in agriculture, food processing and related sectors.
Mention of Buddhist heritage and black salt rice
Referring to the Buddhist heritage of Uttar Pradesh, the Chief Minister described major sites like Kapilvastu, Sarnath, Shravasti and Kushinagar as an important part of the state's global identity.
He also mentioned the black salt rice associated with Lord Buddha and said that it has been included in the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme of Uttar Pradesh.
UP claims to be in the top three economies
CM Yogi said that due to the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and clear policies of the government, Uttar Pradesh is moving forward as the growth engine of the country by joining the top three economies of India.
He claimed that in the last nine years, the state has succeeded in tripling the per capita income along with security and stability. Also, UP is moving rapidly towards becoming a 1 trillion dollar economy.
96 lakh MSMEs and more than 22 thousand startups
The Chief Minister also presented the picture of the industrial ecosystem of the state before the investors. He said that in Uttar Pradesh:
- More than 96 lakh MSMEs
- More than 35,000 large industries
- Over 22,000 startups
- More than 75,000 acres of dedicated industrial land bank

CM Yogi said that UP has emerged as a new center of investment and innovation. He also said that 55 percent of the country's mobile production is being manufactured in UP.
Possibility of 4 thousand employment from Escort Kubota project
Citing the example of Japanese investment, the Chief Minister mentioned the over Rs 2,000 crore Escort Kubota project. He said the project is likely to generate around 4,000 jobs.
The first phase of the project is proposed to have a production capacity of 60,000 tractors and 15,000 construction equipment every year.
Praise for Japan's quality and long term commitment
CM Yogi said that the biggest strength of Japanese industry is quality and long-term commitment. He said that Uttar Pradesh aims to create a strong and long-term Japanese industrial ecosystem in the state.
He said that now is the right time to convert the strategic vision of India-Japan into investment, innovation, manufacturing and technology partnership between Uttar Pradesh and Japanese industry.
The Chief Minister assured the Japanese investors that the UP government stands with them as a reliable partner.
Partnership increased after Japan tour in February
It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Japan in February 2026. During this, he met Japanese industrialists and investors and discussed the possibilities of investment in Uttar Pradesh.
Regarding the relations between Japan and UP, the Chief Minister had mentioned about a cultural connection between the first ray of the sun and Uttar Pradesh, the land of the Suryavansh.
