Delhi Lakshmi Yojana: The wait for the beneficiaries is over! When and how to get pension card, know complete information

New Delhi: A big update has come regarding the much talked about Lakshmi Yojana of Delhi Government. Now eligible women will get direct financial assistance of Rs 2500 every month. The first installment under the scheme will be transferred to bank accounts from September 1, 2026. Earlier it was believed that money would come on Rakshabandhan, but the government has now fixed a new date.

Approval letters will be available at Talkatora Stadium on 26th August    

The government will start distributing sanction letters to the beneficiaries from 26 August 2026. For this, a state level program will be held at Talkatora Stadium in Delhi. In this program, eligible women will be given formal approval documents.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has directed the district level committees to complete the scrutiny and physical verification of all applications expeditiously. So that the form of any eligible woman does not stop due to technical reasons. Approval letters will also be distributed at the district level. After this, the amount will be sent directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries from September 1.

More than 8 lakh registrations in 18 days   

Since the launch of the portal on August 1, 2026, there has been tremendous enthusiasm among women. So far more than 8 lakh women have registered. Of these, more than 5 lakh have successfully submitted their applications. The government will soon open a correction window on the portal for those women who have mistakes in their forms. So that they can also update important information.

How will the payment of Rs 2500 be made?    

The monthly assistance of Rs 2500 given under Lakshmi Yojana will be given in two parts.

  1. Rs 1500 in RD/FD: This amount will go directly into the beneficiary's bank account as recurring deposit or fixed deposit. This money will remain locked till 31 July 2029.
  2. Rs 1000 in CBDC wallet: The remaining Rs 1000 will come in RBI's Central Bank Digital Currency Wallet. Women can spend it immediately.

If a woman wants, she can deposit the entire amount of Rs 2500 in her bank in RD or FD.

What is the purpose of the scheme?    

The main objective of Delhi Lakshmi Yojana is to make the poor and needy women of the capital financially self-reliant. Also, improving the socio-economic status of women and connecting them with new digital financial services like CBDC is also a part of it. After completion of verification of more than 5 lakh applications, these families will start getting regular help from September.
