If the bathroom door is swelling due to water, then try these easy methods

Swelling of wooden doors due to moisture and water is a common problem, especially during monsoon or if there is no proper ventilation, this problem increases. Due to swelling of the door, not only it is not able to close properly but its wood also gradually starts deteriorating. If your bathroom door is also getting stuck due to swelling, then you can fix it by adopting these easy and effective methods. Know here which methods can be useful.

1. Use a hair dryer or heat gun

If the door is slightly swollen due to moisture, the best way to fix it is to dry out the moisture. Set the hair dryer on medium or high heat and rotate the swollen area continuously for 10-15 minutes. Due to this, the water inside the wood will evaporate and the door will start returning to its old shape.

2. Apply wax or vaseline
The edges of the door often rub against each other. Rub white candle wax or Vaseline on the swollen areas. This will reduce friction and the door will close easily without getting stuck. Additionally, the wax forms a waterproof layer over the wood, preventing water from seeping back in.

3. Rub with sandpaper or sandpaper
If the door has swollen too much and won’t close even after drying, remove it from the hinges. Mark the swollen area and rub it with sandpaper. If it is too swollen, peel off some wood from the edge with the help of a carpenter’s trowel. After sanding, immediately apply paint or varnish on that part so that the wood does not remain exposed again.

4. Coat with waterproof varnish or paint
To prevent the problem from recurring, apply two coats of oil-based paint or clear varnish to the bottom and sides of the door. These are the parts from where the most water is absorbed into the wood.
