BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdev told news agency IANS that the students' agitation has been going on for about 26 days and the tribal and indigenous youth of the state are on the streets with their demands. He criticized the lathicharge and police action on students during the assembly siege, calling it the barbarity of the government. He said that ultimately the government had to cancel the examination.
The BJP spokesperson also raised questions on the CID investigation regarding the CGL examination of Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC). He alleged that the CID had given the closure report in the year 2025 saying that the paper was not leaked in the examination, whereas now the government is saying that the paper was leaked. Shahdev said that this raises questions on the role of the investigating agency.
He said that the candidates who were successful in the examination are now on the streets and the government and CID are responsible for this. Pratul Shahdev also questioned the statement in which successful candidates were advised to go to court. He said that the government is forcing the students to visit the courts for justice.
Shahdev reiterated his demand for CBI to investigate the alleged examination scam. He claimed that the strings of the case are connected to many states including Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. According to him, in such a situation it would be appropriate to conduct an investigation by a central agency like CBI. He alleged that the state government was avoiding the CBI investigation because the heat of the investigation could reach the top levels of power.
Referring to the alleged corruption related to JPSC, Shahdev said that the personal secretary of a former member of the commission has been arrested and he is accused of taking Rs 40 lakh for arranging interviews. He raised the question that if CID is investigating then why the three members of the commission were not interrogated or arrested. Shahdev alleged that only “small fish” were being reached in the investigation.
He also claimed that the post of JPSC Chairman is being sold for Rs 70 crore and the leader of the opposition has made serious allegations in this regard. However, these allegations have not been independently confirmed.
Also targeting Rahul Gandhi, Shahdev said that the Congress leader reacted late to the students' agitation. According to him, the movement started on 25th July while Rahul Gandhi's first statement came on 6th August. Shahdev alleged that Rahul Gandhi did not give priority to the students' issue in the initial days of the movement and responded only formally later.
BJP spokesperson said that the party gives moral support to the students' movement and considers their demands legitimate. He demanded the government to seriously consider the demands of the students and conduct an impartial investigation into the alleged examination scam.
