Now all the political parties have come into active mode regarding Punjab Assembly elections 2027. Now only about 6 months are left for these elections. In such a situation, the electoral chessboard has started being laid in the politics of the state. Even though the elections are far away, one seat in the state has already come into the limelight. This seat is Dhuri, the assembly seat of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Bhagwant Mann had reached the assembly from this seat in 2022 by winning by a huge margin but now it seems that he may have to face a tough competition on this seat. At least, it seems so from the discussions going on in the political circles at the moment.
The reason why this seat has started coming into discussion is because of the possibility of veterans of Punjab politics contesting elections from this seat. Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Wadding has demanded from the Congress high command to let him contest elections on this seat. He said in a public meeting that if he wanted to contest the assembly elections, he would like to fight from the axis against Bhagwant Mann.

Discussion of Amritpal's name
In the last five years, Punjab politics and especially Panthak politics has got a new face in the form of Amritpal Singh. Amritpal Singh is an MP from Khadur Sahib Lok Sabha seat of Punjab and is currently in jail. His party has declared him the CM face and has also started announcing candidates for the elections. In such a situation, the discussion has started about Amritpal Singh contesting the elections from the seat of CM Bhagwant Mann. However, the party has not yet officially confirmed it. If as per discussions, these three stalwarts get a chance to contest elections from this seat, then this seat will be one of the hottest seats in Punjab.
Why is the pivot so important?
Dhuri assembly seat is very important at this time because Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann himself is the MLA from here. In the 2022 elections, Mann secured 82,592 votes on Aam Aadmi Party ticket and won with about 64.3 percent vote share. Dalveer Singh Goldy of Congress stood second with 24,386 votes. Mann's victory margin was also quite large and he also formed the government in the state. On this seat, the opposition parties are making a strategy to corner the big face Bhagwant Mann at home. AAP had won this seat for the first time only in 2022 and before that this seat was with Congress and Akali Dal.
Amritpal's entry
Now there is discussion regarding this seat that MP Amritpal can also contest elections from this seat. Amritpal's party Shiromani Akali Dal (Waris Punjab De) is emerging as a sectarian party in Punjab politics. The party organization has started announcing in-charges and candidates for many assembly seats. The party is expanding strongly in Malwa region and the pivot seat is also in Malwa. In such a situation, if Amritpal gives a direct challenge to Bhagwant Mann, then he will be able to emerge as a possible CM face.
