Congress' appeasement politics will no longer work!

The political tussle between BJP and Congress over singing the entire version of 'Vande Mataram' has escalated and after the Congress executive reiterated his stand of singing only the first two stanzas of 'Vande Mataram' in the party programme, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has hit out at the Congress. Shah alleged that Congress' stand is to repeat 'appeasement politics'.

Speaking to 'ANI', Amit Shah expressed strong displeasure over the Congress' decision. According to him, as per the decision taken by the Congress in 1937, the stand of singing two stanzas of 'Vande Mataram' has now been accepted again. Shah claimed that the decision to distribute 'Vande Mataram' was a result of the appeasement politics of that time. He also alleged that the decision contributed to creating a situation of division.

Amit Shah accused Congress of insulting 'Vande Mataram' for vote bank politics. He said that Congress has insulted the freedom fighters and lyricist Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay who sacrificed their lives by raising the slogan of 'Vande Mataram' during the freedom struggle. Amit Shah also gave a direct warning that “appeasement politics will no longer work in this country.” He accused the Congress of giving priority to the party's 1937 resolution and ignoring the Centre's current decision.

“Today the Congress Party is accepting its 1937 Party Resolution and rejecting the Act of Parliament. I am surprised that under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, the Congress Party is once again vigorously promoting the politics of appeasement in this country. I want to appeal to the people of this country that once this country had made the mistake of dividing 'Vande Mataram' into two parts and we have had to suffer the serious consequences of that mistake. Now the people of the country should come together and raise their voice against this decision of the Congress Party, so that appeasement politics does not continue in this country, even after 80 years of independence, the people of this country will not tolerate any opposition to the decision taken by the Congress Party in 1937. Bharatiya Janata Party strongly condemns this decision of the Congress Party and we will strongly oppose it in the public and assembly. Shah said.

The Congress Working Committee meeting was held in New Delhi on 19 August. In this meeting, the party decided to maintain the old stand of reciting only the first two stanzas of 'Vande Mataram' in the programme. Congress has made this stand clear on the basis of the decision taken in 1937. Congress MP's. C. Venugopal also said that the party's stand is clear. He said that the decision taken by Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in 1937 will be accepted.
